On May 28, 2004 that dream was deleted. His father has been convicted in his death and sentenced to 60 years in prision. He was pronounced dead on May 29, 2004 at 3:23pm. His Pediatrician, Dr. Worsley and I had talked of Organ Donation earlier that morning. I decided to make something good out of a tragedy.

His heart went to a 7 month old girl from Canada; his liver went to a 20 month old girl fr Houston, TX and both of his kidneys went to a 64 year old woman in Pennsylvania.

I have no regrets of my decision. This is my way of honoring him and carrying on his legacy.

Mom to Joseph

My son, Joseph Douglas Wells, was born on October 7, 2002 at 7:45am by scheduled C-section. He weighed in at 8lbs. 4.5oz

and was 21.5 inches long. He was taken to NICU where he was placed on a ventilator and tests were run. It was confirmed that he was born with Congenital Hydrocephalus (Water on the brain). He had to have a VP shunt placed when he was 11 days old. he was released from NICU on November 8, 2002.

He was a happy child, everyone he met fell in love with him. He always had a way of getting you to smile. He was loved very much. He had been fit for leg braces in February 2004 to help him stand up and hopefully to walk.

This was taken on May 29, 2004; the day Joseph died. At the time of his death, Joseph was 32" long and weighed 18 1/2 lbs. This is Joseph's mom, Gina, with him in the picture.
